When this printer makes sense
The Kobra S1 Max is Anycubic's large-format flagship — a 350 × 350 × 350 mm enclosed CoreXY with a 350 °C hotend, 120 °C bed and 65 °C actively heated chamber. That combination handles engineering materials (Nylon, PC, PA-CF, ABS/ASA) the smaller S1 (250³) and open Kobra X can't touch. MSRP ~$899 base, $1,034-1,264 Combo with ACE 2 Pro multicolor (up to 16 colors), around R$ 7.499 at Anycubic's Brazil store. Makes sense for anyone printing big functional parts, engineering materials or large multicolor work who finds the Bambu H2D ($1,899) too expensive.
Strengths and limitations
Strengths
350 mm cubed build volume — one of the largest in the enclosed segment, fits big single parts or full batches per plate. 350 °C hotend plus a 65 °C actively heated chamber opens Nylon, PC and carbon-fiber composites, not just PLA/PETG. ACE 2 Pro multicolor up to 16 colors with active filament drying. Hardened steel nozzles handle abrasives out of the box. 600 mm/s CoreXY. Undercuts the Creality K2 Plus and Bambu H2D for comparable large-format capability.
Limitations
Big machine — needs the desk space and draws more power (heated chamber plus a large 120 °C bed). Multicolor is still purge-based via ACE 2 Pro, so large multicolor parts waste filament — a tool-changer wouldn't. The 16-color headline needs multiple ACE units, each a separate purchase. Anycubic's software and community trail Bambu's. Large-format prints run for hours, so a failed 300 g print is an expensive lesson — dial in first layers before committing.
Typical print cost
A 200 g functional part in PETG runs about $2.00-2.80 per unit in a small batch on the S1 Max (amortizing ~$899, the heated-chamber energy line, ~8% failure). For large single parts or engineering materials it's one of the cheapest ways to print them enclosed — the Bambu H2D does similar work at $1,899. The trade: multicolor still purges (budget 30-40% waste on multicolor parts), and the big bed's energy cost per print runs higher than a compact printer's.
