When this printer makes sense
The Centauri Carbon 2 is Elegoo's follow-up to the popular Centauri Carbon — same enclosed 256 × 256 × 256 mm CoreXY body, but the hotend jumps to 350 °C and it gains optional 4-color printing via the Canvas multi-material module. 500 mm/s, 110 °C bed, steel chassis. Base $399, Combo (with Canvas) $449, around R$ 3.999 in Brazil. Aimed at makers who want an enclosed printer that also does multicolor and abrasives without paying Bambu P1S money.
Strengths and limitations
Strengths
Enclosed multicolor under $500 — the Combo undercuts almost everything with a chamber plus a filament switcher. 350 °C hotend (up from the original's 300 °C) plus the enclosure covers ABS, ASA and carbon-fiber composites. Full auto-leveling, 500 mm/s CoreXY. Steel chassis with an aluminum-and-glass shell feels a tier above the price. Elegoo's community and slicer support grew fast off the first Centauri Carbon's success.
Limitations
256 × 256 × 256 mm is mid-pack — fine for most work, tight for large single parts. Multicolor is single-nozzle via the Canvas module, so it purges like any AMS-style system — more colors don't remove the waste. No actively heated chamber (passive enclosure only), so the hottest engineering materials (PC, PA-CF) run at the edge rather than comfortably. The 4-color path needs the Combo or the add-on module — the base $399 unit prints one color.
Typical print cost
A 30 g multicolor part in PLA (with ~30% purge via Canvas) costs about $0.30-0.45 per unit in a small batch on the CC2. Because the enclosed Combo lands at $449, the acquisition cost for enclosed-plus-multicolor is among the lowest anywhere — for sellers who need both a chamber (for ABS/ASA) and color, it amortizes faster than a P1S plus AMS.
