The SPARKX i8 is Creality's SPARKX-brand four-color speed machine built around QuarTeks — a single-nozzle system that merges four filament channels just 1.7 mm above the tip, so it switches color in under a second and purges a fraction of what an AMS dumps. Strengths and limitations
Strengths
QuarTeks attacks the biggest hidden cost in multicolor — purge waste. A 1.7 mm shared filament path dumps far less per color change than a 4-color AMS or CFS, and it does it on a single hotend so you skip the tool-changer price. Fast: 500 mm/s CoreXY at 10,000 mm/s², sub-second color switching. 81-point auto-leveling, 720p AI camera with failure detection, 13 printhead sensors, 90% pre-assembled out of the box. At $399 MSRP (and a $289 early-bird) it's aggressively priced for a low-waste four-color printer.
Limitations
Open-frame with no heated chamber — the 300 °C hotend and 100 °C bed cover PLA, PETG, TPU and basic ABS/ASA at the edge, but not comfortably enclosed engineering work (PC, PA-CF). Four colors max on the single QuarTeks toolhead — no 8-channel cascade like a CFS or a Prusa XL. It still purges, just far less, so more colors still add some transition waste. It launches via Indiegogo crowdfunding, so real-world durability and support stay unproven until units ship and independent reviews land. No Brazil retail price is confirmed yet — the R$ figure is an estimate off the $399 MSRP.
Typical print cost
The i8's entire pitch is per-part cost on multicolor. A 30 g four-color PLA part that dumps ~15 g of purge on a P1S Combo (roughly 50% waste) can fall toward ~3-5 g of transition waste on QuarTeks — turning a ~$0.99 real cost into ~$0.75, mostly the part itself. Across 300 parts/month that's roughly $7-10 of filament saved versus an AMS machine, before counting the shorter print time from skipping a tall purge tower. Because it's a single hotend rather than a tool-changer, you get most of the low-waste benefit at purge-machine acquisition cost.
