When this printer makes sense
The Creality Hi (2024) is Creality's bet on a modern bedslinger: direct drive, auto-leveling, fast mainboard, 260 × 260 × 260 mm build volume (bigger than the A1 and the Ender 3 V3 SE). MSRP $329 standalone, $499 Hi Combo with multicolor CFS. Makes sense for someone who wants an entry-tier bedslinger with slightly larger volume than the A1 or V3 SE, without paying CoreXY money.
Strengths and limitations
Strengths
260 mm³ build volume — bigger than the A1 (256³) and the Ender 3 V3 SE (220³). Modern direct drive tuned for TPU. 300 °C hotend covers PLA, PETG, TPU and ABS at the edge. The CFS Combo delivers 4 colors with active drying. Precise auto-leveling.
Limitations
Bedslinger caps effective speed on tall parts. No enclosure — open frame. Hi community still being built (2024 release). Creality Print software less polished than Bambu Studio.
Typical print cost
A 50 g functional PETG part on the Hi costs $0.40-0.55 per unit in a 10-batch (amortization over $329 standalone). The Combo at $499 delivers 4-color multicolor with active drying — beats the A1 Combo ($459) in usable volume. Good entry option for series decorative production on Etsy / eBay.
Example calculation
For a 50 g part in PLA, 6 h print time and 8% failure rate. Currency follows your selection at the top.
