When this printer makes sense

The Kobra X is Anycubic's push to make multicolor the default at the entry price. 260 × 260 × 260 mm, 600 mm/s, direct drive, and native 4-color out of the box via ACE 2 Pro — expandable to 19 colors by chaining up to four ACE units. MSRP $299 base ($299 in the US, around R$ 3.369 at Anycubic's Brazil store). Aimed squarely at sellers and small print farms who want multicolor volume without Bambu money.

Strengths and limitations

Strengths

Native 4-color at $299 — no optional Combo upsell, the multicolor system ships in the box. Up to 19 colors by stacking ACE 2 Pro units, unusual at this price. ACE 2 Pro adds active filament drying (AMS doesn't dry). 600 mm/s nominal, 300 °C direct-drive hotend covers PLA/PETG/TPU. 260 × 260 × 260 mm build volume edges the A1 (256³) in usable height for taller parts.

Limitations

Open frame, no chamber — rules out ABS/ASA. 300 °C hotend won't reach Nylon comfortably. The 19-color headline is real but each extra ACE 2 Pro is a separate purchase, so the full color count costs money. Anycubic's software and community trail Bambu's in polish and depth. Single-nozzle multicolor purge still applies — more colors automate the swap, they don't remove the waste.

Typical print cost

A 20 g multicolor decorative part in PLA (with ~30% purge via ACE 2 Pro) costs about $0.18-0.25 per unit in a 10-batch on the Kobra X. Because native 4-color ships at $299, the acquisition cost per multicolor slot is the lowest in the catalog — for Etsy/eBay sellers pushing multicolor volume, ROI lands faster than the A1 or the Kobra 3 Combo. The trade is Bambu-level production predictability, which the open Anycubic ecosystem doesn't yet match.
